SUBJECT: Government Response to the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide.

The Albanese Government has today released its response to the Final Report of the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide, setting out a plan for real, meaningful and enduring reform for Defence personnel, veterans and families.

Before the break of dawn on 25 April 1915, thousands of young Australian and New Zealand soldiers landed on the beaches of Gallipoli, beginning the Anzac legend. 

Every Anzac Day, Australians recommit to keeping the legend alive – to never forget.

Champions of veteran employment were celebrated last night at the 2024 Prime Minister’s National Veteran Employment Awards in Canberra.

The Albanese Labor Government is making it easier for veterans to pursue higher education through the Veteran Recognition of Prior Learning – Tertiary Support Grant Program.

I acknowledge that today we gather on the lands of the traditional custodians, the Ngunnawal and recognise any other people or families with connections to the lands of the ACT and surrounding regions. I pay my respects to their Elders, past and present.
