The Australian Government is enhancing dental care for veterans by providing easier access to more dental providers and increasing the money veterans can access for costly dental work up front.

On 14 February 2026, National Servicemen’s Day, the Government will hold a National Commemorative Service in Canberra to mark 75 years since the inception of the 1951 National Service scheme.

Federal, State and Territory Ministers responsible for veterans’ matters met today to collaborate on further improving services and supports for veterans and families of veterans across Australia.

Improving the wellbeing of the veteran community is a key focus of the Albanese Government as we get on with the job of implementing the recommendations of the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide.

GARY ADSHEAD: So, today is actually one year since the Albanese Government responded to the Final Report of the Royal Commission that was held into Defence and veteran suicide. There were a whole range of issues that came up with that.

OLIVIA CAISLEY, HOST: A landmark independent inquiry into sexual violence in the Australian Defence Force will go ahead a year after the Federal Government committed to holding one.
