80th Anniversary of the sinking of AHS Centaur

80 years ago today, Australian Hospital Ship (AHS) Centaur was sunk by a Japanese submarine off the coast of Queensland.

When Centaur departed Sydney on 12 May 1943, there were more than 300 people on board – sadly only 64 survived the sinking.

Further Investments to Support Veterans and Families

58 years since aussie troops committed to the Vietnam War

On this day in 1965, then Prime Minister Robert Menzies announced in Parliament that Australia would send an infantry battalion of combat troops to Vietnam, significantly increasing our commitment to Australia’s longest 20th century conflict.
