SUBJECT: New Open Arms Mental Health Initiatives in Tasmania

Veterans and families in Tasmania’s north west will now have better access to services and support following the opening of the Burnie Veterans’ and Families’ Centre.

For too long, many veterans in Tasmania have had to travel to the mainland to get the specialised acute mental health support they need.

Councils, schools, community and ex-service organisations across the country will share in more than $1.68 million in funding, thanks to the Albanese Government’s Saluting Their Service Commemorative Grants Program.

Today we mark the 80th anniversary of one of the most important events of World War II, D-Day.

The Albanese Labor Government is investing an additional $477 million to increase our support to the more than 340,000 veterans and dependants accessing services through the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA).
