SUBJECT: Pollie Pedal
GARY ADSHEAD, HOST: Good luck with the Pollie Pedal, mate. When is it? It’s coming up?
MEMBER FOR CANNING, ANDREW HASTIE: It starts on Saturday. A thousand Ks. First leg will be on Saturday. Matt will be there. Matt’s been great supporting us, so thank you, Matt. Bipartisanship is a good thing. And we’ve got Johnny Mercer, the UK Veterans’ Minister, coming out as well, and we’re going to have a little ceremony on Saturday down at the Mandurah War Memorial in the evening with two mothers who lost sons with the British Army. So it’s special to have the UK Veterans’ Minister out there to honour those families whose sons were killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.
MINISTER FOR VETERANS’ AFFAIRS AND DEFENCE PERSONNEL, MINISTER KEOGH: So Johnny and I have got a meeting on Friday in Perth with the State Veterans’ Ministers from around the country. A great opportunity to engage with him and to talk to him about how the UK engages and supports their veterans as well and to share that information. And then, yeah, bipartisan support for the Pollie Pedal, which is raising money to support veterans as well. You know, a great cause, which I won’t be donning the lycra like Andrew, but I’m absolutely very happy to support and will be out there with them on Saturday morning.
