Commemorative projects showcase community spirit

LOCAL RSLs and schools are among the latest recipients of Saluting Their Service grants as more than $360,000 in funding is delivered to commemorative projects and activities across Australia.

The Minister for Veterans and Defence Personnel Darren Chester said the diversity of groups applying and their projects demonstrate that commemorating our military service remains an important part of a community’s identity.

"This funding round there is a diversity of projects, including a local school constructing a memorial, and local RSLs installing plaques to commemorate Australian service men and women," Mr Chester said.

"Our military history is an important part of a community’s identity, with the service men and women from a region helping to shape what that community has become today and these grants will help showcase this."

The Saluting Their Service commemorative grants program is designed to preserve Australia’s wartime heritage and involve people throughout the nation in a wide range of projects and activities that highlight the service and sacrifice of service personnel in wars, conflicts and peace operations.

Submit your applications now for funding for projects and activities for the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Pacific Day 2020. To apply or find out more visit the Saluting Their Service Commemorative Grants Program page on the Department of Veterans’ Affairs website. For a list of recipients, see below.
