Commemorative grants fund 66 local community projects

Minister for Veterans’ Affairs Dan Tehan today announced more than $160,000 had been awarded to 66 community projects honouring Australia’s wartime history.

Mr Tehan said the projects, funded under the Australian Government’s Saluting Their Service grants program, played an important role in community commemorations.

“It’s vital we ensure that the contribution of all those who have served our nation, and continue to do so, will be remembered and appropriately honoured,” Mr Tehan said.

“These grants enable communities across the nation to build and preserve memorials and undertake community awareness and education activities to help educate younger generations about Australia’s wartime history.”

Under the Community Commemorative Grants category of the program, up to $4,000 is provided for an individual project.

A list of grant recipients in each state is attached. All figures are GST free.

For more information about the Saluting Their Service program, contact the Department of Veterans’ Affairs’ Commemorative Grants team on 1800 026 185 or email commemorativegrants@dva.gov.au.
