FUNDING HONOURS AUSTRALIA’S SERVICE

Communities across Australia will share in more than $462,000 to help honour Australia’s servicemen and women through the Australian Government’s Saluting Their Service grant program, Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, Senator the Hon Michael Ronaldson announced today.

Under the Community Commemorative Grants category of the program, funding of up to $4,000 can be granted to local projects such as the restoration and building of memorials, installation of flag poles and plaques, and the production of commemorative books.
Senator Ronaldson said the grants were an important program that enabled Communities to recognise the service of all men and women who have served the nation in any war, conflict or peace operation in which Australia has been involved.

“During the Centenary of Anzac, it is important that we also honour the men and women who have served over the last 100 years and those who continue to serve our nation today,” Senator Ronaldson said.

“This round of grants will support a range of projects commemorating the service of those who were involved in a number of conflicts including the First World War, the Second World War, the Vietnam War and the Korean War.

“These grants will help to ensure that the contribution and sacrifice of all those who have served our nation over the past 100 years, and continue to serve today, is appropriately honoured and commemorated,” Senator Ronaldson said.

For more information about accessing Saluting Their Service grants, visit www.dva.gov.au/grants or call 133 254 or 1800 555 254 from regional Australia.

Editor’s note: A list of grant recipients in each state is attached. In accordance with the Commonwealth Grant Rules and Guidelines, approved grants will be added to the list on the DVA website within 14 days of the funding agreement between DVA and the organisation taking effect.
