SPIRIT OF ANZAC CENTENARY EXPERIENCE REGISTRATION OPENS TODAY FOR HOBART

Registrations for the Spirit of Anzac Centenary Experience travelling exhibition tickets will open for people in the Hobart region today, the Minister Assisting the Prime Minister for the Centenary of Anzac, Senator the Hon. Michael Ronaldson has announced with Senator for Tasmania David Bushby.

“The Spirit of Anzac Centenary Experience is the flagship community event of the Anzac Centenary national programme, and provides an opportunity for people in cities and regional Australia to mark the most significant commemorative period in our nation’s history,” Senator Ronaldson said.

Hobart is one of 23 locations the Spirit of Anzac Centenary Experience will visit between September 2015 and April 2017, with the Derwent Entertainment Centre hosting the experience from Wednesday, 14 October to Tuesday, 20 October 2015.

“The Spirit of Anzac Centenary Experience is a free event but bookings are essential as places are limited. Bookings for individuals and for groups of up to thirty people can be made at www.spiritofanzac.gov.au from today,” Senator Ronaldson said.

“The travelling exhibition will provide an interactive commemorative experience using visuals, museum-quality artefacts, audio and film. A key feature of the exhibition will be a ‘local stories’ zone featuring contributions from local communities.”

Senator for Tasmania David Bushby said the Australian Government, in partnership with the Australian War Memorial and supported by the Commonwealth Bank and Telstra, is proud to be bringing the Spirit of Anzac Centenary Experience to communities across Australia.

“The travelling exhibition is an excellent way for our local community to get involved with the Anzac Centenary and learn more about our important wartime history,” Senator Bushby said.

“The exhibition will contain many rare and unique artefacts that will be touring our nation for the first time. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for people of Hobart to see this collection so close to home and I would encourage everyone to consider booking a time to attend the exhibition.”

The Australian Government is supporting a number of commemorative, educational and cultural initiatives during the Anzac Centenary 2014-2018 – honouring the service and sacrifice of all those who have served Australia, including the more than 102,000 who have lost their lives.
