Corporate support for the Anzac Centenary Public Fund continues to gain momentum with Australia’s biggest rail freight operator, Aurizon, making a significant contribution to the Anzac Centenary Public Fund worth $2.5 million over five years.

Aurizon’s 150 year history of supplying important resources and freight to Australia has spanned the many turbulent years of war.  For example, during the Second World War, when the Queensland rail network was the closest to the fighting, freight lines were a critical part of the war effort, transporting troops and military equipment to northern Australia.

Today Aurizon continues to play a vital role in supplying freight services that support remote regional and rural areas of Australia.

Aurizon was one of the first major corporate supporters at the launch of the Anzac Centenary Public Fund in December 2013, where the Prime Minister personally acknowledged Aurizon for its commitment and I am honoured to announce the confirmation of that support through the donation.

The support that the Anzac Centenary Public Fund has received to date demonstrates that corporate Australia want to be a part of sharing the Anzac Centenary with the community. This generosity will allow communities across the country to share in initiatives and programmes bringing the Anzac Centenary to all corners of Australia.

The support of Aurizon toward the Commonwealth Governments vision of providing opportunities for the Australian community to share in and commemorate a Century of Service and the Anzac Centenary is to be commended.
