GRANTS FUND VETERAN PROJECTS ACROSS AUSTRALIA

Fifty-seven projects supporting Australia’s veteran and Defence community will benefit from $682,051 in funding as part of the Veteran and Community Grants program, Minister for Veterans’ Affairs Senator the Hon Michael Ronaldson announced today.

“Internet access and computer equipment to improve online access, gardening equipment, bowling green upgrades, tools for Men’s Sheds and bus trips to reduce social isolation are just a few examples of how these grants will support veterans and their families,” Senator Ronaldson said.

“The Veteran and Community Grants program funds tangible projects that directly benefit the defence and veteran community and I congratulate each of the successful organisations for their enthusiasm and dedication,” Senator Ronaldson said.

Ex-service and community organisations, veteran representative groups, private organisations and projects that promote improved independence and quality of life for veterans are eligible for funding through the Veteran and Community Grants program.

“Since 1999, the Veteran and Community Grants program has helped ex-service organisations continue to provide high quality services and support to the veteran and defence community and their families,” Senator Ronaldson said.

“It is inspiring to see RSL clubs and sub-branches, Men’s Sheds and many other veteran, defence and community organisations provide a central hub of support, recreation and comradeship for so many of our current and former servicemen and women.”

“The Australian community is justly proud of our veterans and those currently serving in the Australian Defence Force. Each of these grants is a show of our appreciation and gratitude to our sailors, soldiers, airmen and nurses, past and present.

“I encourage any eligible groups to consider how a grant could help deliver care and support to their local veteran and defence community and apply for the next funding round.”

For further information on how to apply visit www.dva.gov.au/grants or contact your nearest DVA office on 133 254 or 1800 555 254 from regional Australia.
