LEND YOUR VOICE TO HELP COMMEMORATE ANZAC DAY AT GALLIPOLI
The Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, Warren Snowdon, today encouraged choral groups across the country to consider becoming involved in official Anzac Day commemorations at Gallipoli, Turkey.
Mr Snowdon said an expression of interest is open to community choral groups, involving performers of all ages, to participate in the commemorations at Gallipoli from next year until Centenary commemorations in 2015.
“This is a great opportunity to be a part of Anzac Day commemorations at locations of great significance to our wartime heritage,” he said.
“On Anzac Day we gather to remember all those who have served our country, from the Anzacs, to those who are currently serving today.
“Being a part of Anzac Day commemorations is a great experience for all Australians and for choral groups, and is a chance to play an integral role in the Gallipoli Dawn Service and Australian Service at Lone Pine.
“Music is a key element in the commemorative program and the successful group will help lead the singing at the commemorations from 2012 through to 2015.”
The music program may include hymns, national anthems and relevant period and contemporary music.
Choral groups with a wide range of performers from all walks of life, with experience performing at different events and who are keen to take on the challenge of performing at an international commemorative service are encouraged to apply.
For more information on how to apply, visit the AusTender website at www.tenders.gov.au.
Responses must be lodged by 19 August 2011.
